(News-Press) -- A broad area of low pressure in the north-central Gulf of Mexico has not become any better organized since Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
A reconnaissance mission that was scheduled for later in the day Thursday has been canceled.
The system is drifting southward and only has a 40 percent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
