Port Charlotte, FL-- Rays' manager Joe Maddon said Monday, he welcomes the high expectations for his team this season.

Pitchers and catchers reported Monday to the Rays' 15th spring training.  Several full squad players were on hand as well to workout, including free agent signee DH Luke Scott and OF Sam Fuld.

The predictions for the 2012 season, include good things for the Rays, who are coming off 3 post-season appearances in the last 4 years.  Joe Maddon doesn't want to shy away from the high praise.

"I like the idea of the expectations being raised a little bit," said Maddon during a noon-time gathering with reporters at Charlotte Sports Park. "I like the idea of people including us in that kind of discussion, I like the players to like that too... It's more about managing expectations this year, than trying to build some... And I'm very good with that.  I'm pumped about this season."

The first workout for pitchers and catchers is Tuesday.  The first workout for the full squad is Sunday, although most of those players are expected in camp before that.
