MIAMI (AP) - Former Miami coach Randy Shannon is suing his alma mater, saying the university is not paying him all he is owed.

Shannon was fired in November 2010. He was under contract through Jan. 31, 2014, a deal that said Shannon would receive a guaranteed amount per year if he was fired.

Shannon's lawsuit says Miami reduced that guarantee because he was fired less than one year into the deal. The lawsuit says nothing in the contract authorizes Miami to lower the guarantee, and further alleges that the school withheld the bonus Shannon should have received for the Hurricanes making the Sun Bowl in 2010.

A university spokesman said the school is not commenting.

Shannon was 28-22 in four seasons at Miami, where he was a linebacker in the mid-1980s.
