Found ammo disrupts day at Polk County school

Lakeland, Florida - George Jenkins High School in Lakeland was placed on lockdown today after someone found  bullets in the school parking lot. 

Polk County Sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Eleazer says deputies were looking around campus to make sure there was nothing amiss after the ammunition was found.

Eleazer says there have been no threats or other incidents at the school today and that deputies were just being cautious in performing a search of the school.

Investigators looked in classrooms, lockers and other areas of the school in addition to questioning students.

No arrests were made in connection with the bullets.

George Jenkins High School is located at 6000 Lakeland Highlands Road in Lakeland.
