NEW YORK (AP) - If you can carry a tune, you're halfway to becoming a television success.
The Nielsen company said that music-oriented programs were the most popular on broadcast television for four of the seven nights last week. That includes NBC's surging game "The Voice" on Monday and Fox's "American Idol" on Wednesday and Thursday.
Extraordinary ratings for Sunday's presentation of the Grammy Awards led the way. The Grammys had just under 40 million viewers, a number not seen since Michael Jackson won the best album award for "Thriller."
The return of Adele from throat surgery and curiosity over the music industry's response to Whitney Houston's death drove up the audience.
