"I'll always be a teacher at heart"

Clearwater, Florida---Every morning Assistant Principal Sherry Aemiseggar is at McMullen Booth Elementary is sure to be a good one.

She often spends time in the classroom reading to students. Aemisseggar says even as a young girl she knew education would be a part of her life story. She says she has always loved being around children.

Aemiseggar recently received a great honor. She was recognized by the Department of Education as Florida’s Outstanding Assistant Principal. She says the award came as a big surprise to her.

Aemiseggar says she there’s a reason elementary students will always have a special place in her heart.

“I think one reason is becase when they come to us as kindergartner's they have had a lot of experiences but they are still so fresh and new and they are just beginning to learn.”

She also believes she has found her true calling and encourages others to follow their heart.  It’s what she’s done and says she couldn’t be happier.
