DADE CITY, Florida -- A handful of classic cars were ruined when a 100-year-old oak tree just split, falling on top of the storage area of an auto restoration business.
The owner of JPL Motor Sports in Dade City showed up Tuesday morning to find a tree from a neighbor's yard had fallen, smashing a storage building and hitting cars and a truck parked outside.
After a year and a half, the workers had almost finished restoring a 1954 Bellair, which is now underneath the tree.
The cars destroyed are irreplaceable. Some were family heirlooms.
Owner Jasen Law says he hopes everything gets cleaned up over the next day so they can have access to the lifts and get back to working on cars. He's glad that the business wasn't open when all the damage happened and that no one was hurt.
